Oh Kathie… there are gaffs and then there are moments when the blunder is so unbelievably unbelievable you can’t find words.
During this morning’s Today Show, Kathie Lee Gifford pressed Martin Short to elaborate on how he and his wife manage to keep the laughs coming after so many wonderful years of marriage. Blindly unaware that Short’s wife passed after a battle with ovarian cancer in 2010.
If you were never a Martin Short fan before, you will be now. After watching this video, and Short’s approach to Gifford’s relentless pressure to comment on his ever thriving marriage – you’ll never question what grace in action means again.
What I most loved was Short’s reference to Gifford’s salary shortly after. Subtle and yet, oh so succinct. (4:50)
SEE HOW SHORT HANDLED THE QUESTIONS.
Shame on you Kathie.
If the live error (3:30) wasn’t bad enough, her Today Show apology (5:09) sounded more like a blame on Short for speaking of his wife in present tense. Then there’s the Twitter sentiment, tweeted to the wrong Martin Short account.
There isn’t enough crow in the world.
