If you’ve sworn off alcohol, you might be surprised to know you just eliminated some of your favorite sodas as well. Turns out these soft drinks may not be that soft after all.
The National Institute of Consumption in Paris says both Coca-Cola and Pepsi contain alcohol. Tests showed levels of about 0.001%. Not enough to get you blurry eyed or a DUI, but still a little shocking for some.
The test was conducted in France, no word if it includes all the pop (you don’t really call it soda, do you?) sold in the States.
Coke rep Michel Pepin said it was “possible that traces of alcohol come from the process’ of making Coca Cola according to its secret recipe”. Pepsi said about the same thing, pointing to the fruits fermenting.
