What ended up helping Katie Holmes‘ decision to file for divorce? Was it the age difference? Was it Scientology?

Katie Holmes decided to file for divorce because she was convinced that Tom Cruise was going to send their 6-year-old daughter, Suri, to a Scientology organization known as Sea Organization (Sea Org).

Sea Org is where the highest levels of Scientology are taught. Kids as young as five can be sent to live there with no parents. Supposedly, Tom is a big fan.

Sea Org has been compared to a boot camp and many ex-Scientologists are speaking out against its military-like conditions.

According to the official Scientology website, “members of Sea Org sign a one-billion-year pledge to symbolize their eternal commitment to the religion and it is still signed by all members today.”

Katie felt the only way to save Suri from being shipped off to Sea Org was to file for divorce and seek sole legal custody.
