According to CNN, the final count for the victims of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting is 12 dead, 59 wounded.  Over the weekend there have also been more reports about the shooter James Holmes; however, what has not been gained is an understanding that so many are desperately seeking.

Everyone wants answers concerning Holmes, who is being accused of entering the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado and opening fire during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

Pictures released to the media of Holmes show a man with dark hair and eyes, and according to CNN, he was a bright man.  He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of California, Riverside in 2010.  After that, he enrolled at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, hoping to get his PhD.

Not only was Holmes a student, he had no criminal record, aside from a traffic violation in 2011.

There were some signs that something happened in Holmes life though, as he withdrew from the University of Colorado last month without giving a reason for his withdrawal according to spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery.  However, he still worked at a paid position in the university’s neuroscience department.

It was at this work and at his home that Holmes had been receiving a large amount of deliveries over the past four months.  Police believe that these deliveries not only contained some of his gear, but also the equipment and supplies Holmes needed to booby trap his apartment.   According the the San Francisco Chronicle, the apartment has been disarmed.  Batman paraphernalia was also found in the process.

Authorities have released information about the actual shooting, saying Holmes was dressed in ballistic gear and wore a gas mask.  He also had dyed his hair red, and identified himself as The Joker upon arrest.

Another odd piece to the story is the fact that there is no trace of Holmes on any social media site; however, he may have posted a page on the adult website, Adult Friend Finder.  The profile posted by a 24 year old male from Aurora with red hair has been removed, but police are investigating.

Reports of Holmes past have also surfaced, and he even worked as a camp counselor for needy children back in 2008.  Neighbors described him as quiet and say the 24-year-old liked to keep to himself.

James Holmes will appear in court today.  Not much will go on, but he is still not cooperating with police.
