Only two years ago, Lee DeWyze was the newest winner of American Idol. Now he’s a new husband.

DeWyze wed his girlfriend, actress Jonna Walsh on Saturday afternoon. And the singer got straight to the point when it came to describing his excitement after the festivities. So excited in fact, he forgot all about proper grammar.

Beautiful wedding, beautiful girl, just beautiful :) WERE MARRIED!

The vintage-inspired ceremony took place in California and was exactly how the couple wanted it.

“Outdoors with chandeliers,” DeWyze told People.

The bride, wearing a strapless lace embroidered gown, walked down the aisle to a song her new hubby wrote especially for her called “Who Would Have Known.” Fans can expect to hear this one on DeWyze’s new album, which he’s currently recording.

The two met in October 2010 on the set of DeWyze’s video for “Sweet Serendipity,” a song off his album, Live It Up.

It wasn’t too long after meeting that the two were cozying up for their first date, a Lakers/Bulls basketball game.

“When he took me home that night I called my mom and told her that I was going to marry him,” Walsh told the mag. “I could feel it in my heart.”

DeWyze agreed the attraction was pretty instantaneous.

“When I realized I could be 100 percent myself around her all of the time I knew I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life.”

After a weekend of excitement, DeWyze took a little time to tweet his thanks to all his friends and family.

Now that I have a minute, I just want to say thank you SO much for all your support and loving words me and my wife ;) @jonnawalsh !
