Married to a rock star, two children, a clothing line, two successful solo albums and a new album with her band mates. That sounds a little overwhelming! Gwen Stefani is ready to concentrate on No Doubt and her family.
Gwen is admitted she would be hesitant to go back in the studio for a solo album again. She told the UK’s Daily Report “No, I don’t think so. I was always thinking of that as a moment in time and you can never say never.”
How about a world tour in support of Push and Shove, the new No Doubt album that is released in September? Unlikely.
No Doubt has 8 children between all of the band members. Gwen remembers touring the world with her oldest son, Kingston. “I went round the world with Kingston on my own and that was really hard. It was so hard, but it was amazing, too. He got to go around the world, but he doesn’t remember.”
Even writing and producing Push And Shove was difficult. Between writers’ block and getting together with the band to make music. Gwen said, “We were only able to get together three days a week and, because I had the kids, there was only a limited amount of time. I was exhausted by the time I got there, so it was a struggle trying to weigh and balance everything out with the kids. But it was that fight that made the record so great, just really wanting it, and saying, ‘No, and I don’t care that Kingston is in school ‘till 3pm, let’s meet at 10am and write the record’ – whatever it took. I don’t know where that drive comes from.”
Gwen admitted it took all her drive and passion to finish this record, which No Doubt had planned to released earlier, but was unable to due to time restraints and it not being ready.
Push And Shove will be No Doubt’s first album in over a decade. Rock Steady was released in 2001 and featured hits “Hey Baby” “Hella Good” and “Underneath It All”
