There are more than 11,000 soldiers in the Ohio Army National Guard, from every walk of life.  They generally spend one weekend each month, and two weeks each summer drilling to support national security and protect life and property.

Brigadier General John C. Harris, Jr. is Assistant Adjutant General for Army, overseeing the readiness of his troops to preserve peace, order and public safety.

About 9,000 members of the Ohio Army National Guard have been called to support U. S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan,  in addition to providing homeland defense and emergency response.

Not only do National Guard members get paid for their monthly drilling, but they can earn full tuition at public universities in Ohio.  And graduates who enlist can get help repaying their student loans.
