The Duke and Duchess are “saddened” by the topless pics published by a French Tabloid and the Royal Family is furious and is threatening taking legal action over them, “Officials acting on behalf of their royal highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess.”

“Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them,” a Palace Official said. “The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so.”

Wait a second… Now I feel sad that their privacy was invaded, but taking topless pics is hardly life threatening. I also can’t help but speculate how different this would be here in this country. It wouldn’t be the press being berated, but the subject of the photo. Not that there is anything wrong with sunbathing “European Style,” but if you were a highly publicized (and royal) couple, wouldn’t you be sure not to (pardon the pun) expose yourself in ANY situation?

But then I’m sure she’s gotten a royal earful as well…
