It’s been 40 years since Welcome House opened the first group home for men with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cuyahoga County. Before then, the only options loved ones had were large institutions.

Now, with the help of some 260 dedicated caregivers, more than 140 people with IDD live in group homes in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

Tony Thomas, Executive Director at Welcome House, tells Jim a new home health care service is now helping people with IDD stay in their own homes with their loving families.

Tony reminds us to visit Gingerbread Lane at Westfield Great Northern Mall.  The annual promotion for Welcome House reminds visitors of the welcoming atmosphere clients of Welcome House experience.
